Speaker: Daniel Tahara, the leader of Fossil Free Berkeley's ballot Measure GG to levy a tax on natural gas used in large buildings
Following Daniel's presentation, we will have an open discussion about whether CFMV should try to get a similar measure on our local ballot in 2026. For the next four years, federal support for decarbonization will be scaled back. We need to figure out what we can accomplish locally. Our #1 goal is still to get the City Council to pass a resolution to phase out piped natural gas no later than 2045, but perhaps we have the bandwidth to take on a second challenge.
