Milpitas Votes to Join SVCE
On Nov. 7 2017 the Milpitas City Council voted 5-0 to join Silicon Valley Clean Energy as the 13th member of the joint powers authority.
The efforts that Cherie Walkowiak and John Scarboro started four and a half years ago to bring GHG-free electricity to Mountain View have now reached a completely successful conclusion within our County.
Congratulations to all who helped to make this happen!
Carbon Free Mountain View named Environmental Organization of the Year!
The League of Conservation Voters honored Carbon Free Mountain View at its annual awards ceremony on September 14th. CFMV and Sunnyvale Cool were named "Environmental Organizations of the Year" for our efforts to bring Community Choice Energy to Santa Clara County.
Carbon Free Electricity is here!
Silicon Valley Clean Energy hosted a launch party on April 3rd, 2017 to celebrate the inauguration of 100% GHG-free electricity to its first 68,000 customers. About 100 people attended, and Carbon Free Silicon Valley's President, Bruce Karney, was there to give a wonderful speech.
Bruce was interviewed afterward by David Louie of Channel 7 News.
Thanks to everyone who made this day possible, especially Carbon Free Mountain View/Silicon Valley co-founders Cherie Walkowiak and John Scarboro and to the Sunnyvale residents who got the CCA ball rolling in the first place: Gerry Glaser, Barb Fukumoto, Margaret Okuzumi, James Tuleya and the members of the Sunnyvale Sustainability Commission and Sunnyvale Cool.
